“Spanning the equator, igniting the Silk Road legacy, erecting monumental achievements and composing an symphony of win-win cooperation.”
China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd. (“CHEC”) has deeply integrated itself into the high-quality cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative within Indonesia—known as the “Land of Thousand Islands”. Since 2003, CHEC has pioneered and expanded its footprint across the archipelago nation, investing in and building multiple power projects along the ever-flowing Solo River. Guided by the principles of innovation, coordination, green development, openness, and shared benefits, the company pursues eco-friendly and harmonious growth while actively fulfilling its social responsibilities. Through these efforts, CHEC has polished the golden reputation of its “Dudu Care” (Every Degree of Care) brand on the global stage.
Persistent Cultivation and Two-Way Collaboration to Forge Exemplary Projects
Located in Batam Island, a strategic hub along the Malacca Strait in the north of Indonesia’s Kepulauan Riau, the Batam 2×65 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant, developed under the Investment-Construction-Operation Integration model by CHEC, was the first overseas investment and operation project under the company’s “Going Global” strategy. The plant boasts an annual average generating capacity of nearly 900 GWh, meeting 20% of the island’s electricity demand. Its power quality, unit stability, and availability rate consistently rank first on the island.
On the shores of the Java Sea, some 150 kilometers from Bali’s provincial capital Denpasar, a 3×142MW Coal-fired Power Plant was invested by CHEC. With a total installed capacity of 426 MW, this facility now supplies about 65% of Bali’s electricity demand. Generating approximately 3 TWh annually with utilization rate exceeding 7,000 hours, it provides sustained power flow for Bali and surrounding areas.
With Indonesia’s first-ever circular enclosed coal yard to minimize dust pollution, the plant innovatively sets new environmental benchmarks as the emission levels of SO2, NOx, and dust significantly outperform local standards, hailed as a “landscape-integrated, high-quality, green, eco-friendly project”. This plant has garnered high acclaim from Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company PLN and various sectors.
With Green as the Brush, Creating a “Dream Ocean” with Care
The Power Plant in Bali, Indonesia has launched a “Trash-Free Beach” campaign, attracting over 30 organizations and institutions—including the Bali Provincial Government, local environmental agencies, port authorities, police departments and PLN, and a total of 170 volunteers. The initiative also featured a signature campaign named “reduce single-use plastics”, further reinforcing CHEC’s image as a company committed to environmental protection and cultural integration with local communities. This effort highlighted CHEC’s determination and confidence in building eco-friendly, sustainable projects.
